TANTU 2011

Tantu 2011, the annual showcase of the collections by the graduating batch of the Textiles Dept. was held at the Royal Tulip hall of the Cambay Grand Hotel in Ahmedabad on 13th May, 2011.
The show was organized as a static display of all the collections by the students as a celebration of the talent of these young achievers. It was covered by leading newspapers like The Ahmedabad Times, Ahmedabad Mirror, Dainik Bhaskar and DNA. The news channel IBN7 and TV9 too carried a feature on the event.

The event was inaugurated by Ms. Sameeta Rajora, IFS, Director, NIFT, Gandhinagar and Mr. N.O. Solanki, Deputy Director and OIC Weavers Services Centre, Ahmedabad, by the lighting of ceremonial lamps. All the esteemed guests were honored with floral bouquets.
The Director, Registrar and the guests, congratulated the students and shared encouraging and inspirational words with the students.

All the graduating students were presented a rose as a token of love and affection by their junior batches. Thegraduating students honored the faculty members in a similar manner. The graduating students then recounted their special memories during their four years at NIFT, Gandhinagar.
This year the show was even more special with the presence of eminent guests from the Industry and Academia that included Mr. Shrikant Pareek, COO, Ashima Ltd.; Mr. S.D. Swaminarayan, Secretary & Head Gen. Admn. NID;  Prof. P. Kurma Rao, NID; Mr. Dushyant Panwar, Head Designer, Ashima Ltd.; Mr. Atul Saxena, Design Head, Donear Industries Ltd.; Ms. Deepa Subramaniyam, Brand Manager Rajka Designs. All the guests, students and faculties enjoyed the creative display and interacted freely amongst each other.

The formal ceremonies were followed by a grand dinner which was appreciated by all alike.
The evening ended with the graduating students shaking a leg or two along with their juniors. But they also felt a little nostalgic and emotional with the realization that they will not be a student at the Institute anymore. 

With, this fourth edition of Tantu, the Textiles Dept. of NIFT, Gandhinagar has dedicated another batch of Textile Design professionals to the Industry.
