  Raw Material Bank
  • Raw material Bank of Silk Yarn is being operated at cluster in co-ordination with partner NGO CARE & Saath charitable trust.
  • It was Started on Pilot basis with 3 Lakh Investment by CARE India in March’08.
  • As on Sept’09, 650 Kg Silk Yarn costing Rs: 14 lakh distributed to 250 artisans.
  • Till date there has been 99 % repayment@ Credit period of 15 days to 3 Months.
  • Scaled up raw material bank & introduced Cotton yarn in Raw Material bank for Khadi/Handloom & Tangaliya artisans.

G.I. Initiative for “Tangaliya” Craft.

  • Tangalia Association comprising 236 craftsmen formed
  • Logo for Tangaliya Association developed by student of NIFT.
  • Application filed at Chennei registery to register Tangaliya under Geographical indications (Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration & Protection) Act, 1999)
  • Meeting of Consultative committee members to decide on GI for Tangaliya held on 30th Sept’08 at NIFT.

  • Incorporating changes as per the committee’s recommendation, Revised application submitted at the G I office
  • Notification for Registration of “Tangaliya” craft under G.I. has been published in G.I. Journal no. 29 on 22nd April 2009.
  • Tangaliya craft has been registered under Geographical Indication.

SILK MARK

Process for getting “Silk Mark” for the federation of artisans, SUVAS was initiated.In consultation with the Officials from Central Silk Board, Mumbai application for getting SILK MARK for SUVAS was filed.
Awareness camps on Silk Mark scheme and demonastrations for checking purity of silk was organized at the cluster, designated officer from Silk Mark Organizarion of India, Mumbai conducted these workshops.

 

SUVAS has been registered with Silk Mark Organization of India & now is registered user of “Silk Mark” (Refer Sr no: 1239 on link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=rgW350OHRIKYbLIwzmvxx-g)

CRAFT MARK

Craftmark certification is given by All India Artisans and Craft workers Welfare Association (AIACA) to its member organisations. Application was submitted to All India Artisans and Craft workers Welfare Association (AIACA) for getting “CRAFT MARK” in four crafts i.e. Single Ikat, Khadi/Handloom, Tangaliya & Stone for members of SUVAS. AIACA supporting its member’s organization market to their products and also authorizes its members to use the CRAFTMARK which distinguishes genuine Indian craft products. Consultant from AIACA had visited Surendranagar Cluster for verification and craftmark certification has been given SUVAS.

HANDLOOM MARK 

A workshop on “HANDLOOM MARK” was organized by Textile Committee at our SRTSC Limbdi Center and attended by handloom artisans from the cluster. Application for getting “Handloom Mark” for members of SUVAS has been submitted to Textile Committee for getting Handloom Mark for handloom made up products and is in final stage.
