Design Concept
The design of the central installation for Garba 2011 is a symbolic structure of Goddess Shakti and her Avatar. The mother Goddess is said to appear in 9 forms, signifying various traits that the Goddess influences us with.
7 spheres and hemispherical compositions were used to depict 8 Goddesses, the ninth one being the idol itself. Spherical shapes are used as all activities that take place in Garba are circular. The central hemispherical composition is symbolizing the eight Goddess as well as the three piece “Chaniya Choli”. The colors and mirror work are inspired from this tradition attire.
