Closed on Sundays and Government of India holidays.
- Which items can I check out?
Only Books are available. 'Reference Materials”, ‘Non-print Materials’, 'Diploma Projects' , 'Craft Documents' (distinguished with a ‘R’ on their spines) and loose issues of periodicals must be used in the Resource Centre.
- How can I borrow materials?
First, verify the availability of a document in the Resource Centre from the ‘WebOPAC’ (Online Public Access Catalogue) under ‘WebOPAC’ in the Resource Centre page <http://www.nift.ac.in/gandhinagar/rc.html>. Second, find the book in the open stacks for yourself. Third, check out the books using your Resource Centre Card at Circulation Desk near the Resource Centre Entrance. Circulation hours are: Monday – Friday: 09:30 am - 08:300 pm / Saturdays: 09:30 am - 05:00 pm.
- Why do I need to write my name/assign signature on the book card at the time of borrowing?
It is to protect you against false issuing of documents against your account (which is a possibility). In this situation the Resource Centre takes full responsibility to protect your account.
- How do I return the materials?
Documents may be presented at the Circulation Desk during the circulation hours. Always verify your account to ensure return.
Books that are not yet overdue or have not been requested by another borrower can be renewed at the Circulation Desk. A document can be renewed twice, upon which it needs to be returned back to the Resource Centre. You can check-out the book again after 7 days if available.
- How can I keep abreast of the due dates?
Regularly check your personal email ID provided to Resource Centre for weekly overdue notice. Also see the due date slip in the issued books.
- How can I borrow an item which is currently checked out to another member?
One needs to 'reserve' the book by filling up the appropriate information available at the Circulation Desk. The book will be issued to you on its return.
- Is there any late fee for documents returned after due date?
The late fee is Re.5/- per day for first two days and there after Rs20/- per day. The late fee should be paid at the Circulation Desk. Remember to collect the receipt.
- Can I borrow books /journal articles from other Libraries?
Yes, there are some selected libraries locally where you can refer and borrow books by collecting library tickets from circulation desk. Also, arrangements may be done for Inter-Library Loan of books or requisition of journal articles from other resource centres of NIFT/ Libraries. Approach the librarian with the names of the libraries where such documents are available. (N.B: Resource Centre does not deal with priced articles)
- How can I get a book not in the open stacks?
The book may be in use by another Resource Centre member, or it may have been put aside, such as waiting to be shelved/ missing/ lost/ disposed and in bindery. Please ask Resource Centre staff.
- Can I request the Resource Centre to purchase specific, new material?
Of course. Complete a 'Requisition Form' by downloading from <http://www.nift.ac.in/gandhinagar/rc.html> and hand over to the Resource Centre staff. Students should get these forms forwarded by their respective CCs/any faculty member. Requisitions may be made based on catalogues or other available sources. (Books are displayed round the year, replaced with new titles every week).
- Any photocopying facility available for Resource Centre documents?
Charged @ Re.0.50 per page (black & white) for personal use by cardholders/ others. Only Resource Centre documents will be allowed for photocopy, within the permissible pages as per the Copy right rules.
- What are electronic journals?
A number of journals are available in full-text format to the Resource Centre members. Some journals are available electronically corresponding to their printed versions. Others are available only online. Check the list of electronic journals (including 'Archives') available on the Resource Centre's Homepage <http://www.nift.ac.in/gandhinagar/rc.html>. - May I scan pictures or photographs from Resource Centre journals?
Two scanners one A-3 & A-4 are available in the Resource Centre. Ask the Circulation Desk for assistance during the Circulation Hours. Reference Materials are not allowed for scanning.
- I am an outsider, how can I be a member of Resource Centre?
Resource Centre offers members to alumni’s, industry, institutions and individual persons. Details of membership fees and forms available at RC page under ‘Membership’ <http://www.nift.ac.in/gandhinagar/rcmembership.html>
- What should I do if lost the Resource Centre Membership Card?
Immediately report to the Head Resource Centre for lost of I card. On payment of Rs250/- duplicate card will be issued. For mutilation/ damaged cards Rs25/-charged per card.
- How can I view the status of items I have asked the Resource Centre to purchase?
Check regularly your personal email provided to RC for weekly New Arrivals alert.
- Where can I find answers which are not here?
