National Institute of Fashion Technology has set up Research, Development and Training Centre (RDTC) in 2002, with state of the art technology and equipment to carry out the research based activity in the area of Readymade Garment Industry (RMG), with the financial assistance from the Government of Gujarat.

The objective of establishing RDTC was to conduct research, product development, skill up gradation, training programmes for various level of garment industry, and consultancy services to the industry thereafter assisting the garment industry in Gujarat.

NIFT has set up the research facilities with state of the art technology in the area of cutting, sewing and finishing and specific emphasis on difficult to sew fabric (Micro fiber type) and having special; set of machinery and equipments for it.
