During 2006-2008 Various Design Development Projects were completed for the Crafts of Madhya Pradesh, with the support of ‘M.P. Hastashilp Evam Hathakargha Vikas Nigam Ltd.', Bhopal (a Govt. of M.P. enterprise)

• The development initiative is aimed to alleviate poverty levels of over 1000 beneficiaries by providing skill and sustained employment. During the first phase of the initiative the deliverables will be to develop strategies for interventions in Design, technology, Market & Management areas based on Diagnostic study. • During the second & third phase the deliverables will be to initiate change & enhancement amongst the beneficiaries through Prototype making of the refined • Products, development of Design & Technical up gradations, trade promotions & supply chain management.

Activities Perfomed

The Project commenced in December 2006, and has been completed: Phase I Diagnostic Study The Diagnostic survey was organized for all the regions in which more than 25 crafts were covered. A team comprising Faculty members along with students, who did the extensive field survey covering around 1000 beneficiaries. Documentation has been done & submitted to MPHSVN (Bhopal) for all the regions surveyed. The Nigam acclaimed the work done by NIFT team. Phase II 1. Design direction : Identification of product possibilities based on new markets. 2. Product development : Prototype making and Product Concepts Phase III 1. Trade Promotion : Organizing/participating in product/design and promotional event/exhibition/trade fare 2. Technology up gradation : Tools technology and skills enhancement.
