Industry Connects and Projects

A project for the Revival of Traditional Handicraft of Dhurrie Weaving, Haryana was completed successfully. Shri Swami Rama Foundation Trust (SSRFT), a non-profit organization with a social mission to uplift marginalized sections of society, especially in rural areas through education, vocational training, skill development, health care, yoga and sustainable rural development approached NIFT Panchkula for this project funded by NABARD under Off Farm Producer Organisation (OFPO) named ‘Viraasat Back to Roots’. This project was done for the revival of a cluster of 300 Dhurrie weavers in 7 villages (Raipur Rani, Garhi Kotaha, Samlehri, Haryoli, Khedi and Shahpur) in Panchkula Dist. and one village - Bada Gaon in Ambala District.

  1. Dr. Shruti Gupta organized an exhibition of Handloom on the occasion of the 8th National Handloom Day on 07 August 2022.
  2. FD Dept. conducted visits to Active Clothing Pvt. Ltd., Shoolin Design Consultancy, Rangaai Studio and Nahar Industrial Enterprises located in and around Chandigarh.
  3. Dr. Chavi Goyal, Assistant Professor, DFT organized online expert lecture of Ms. Tanushree Gupta, Assistant Manager, Shahi, Bangalore on Value addition for Couture garments: Costume designing of Bajirao Mastani movie in subject Value addition for couture & Pret, Fashion Design, Semester-6 on 27 February 2023, 10-12 am.
  4. Ms. Marisha Narula completed Faculty Industry Attachment at The Ideaz Factory, Chandigarh from 16th to 30th June 2023.
  5. Ms. Marisha Narula worked as a PDT member for the Project “Marketing and Branding of Viraasat - Back to Roots for Logo Design.

  9. Dr. Chavi Goyal, Assistant Professor, DFT was invited as a reviewer for a research paper manuscript RFTX-2023-0021 by Journal Textile -Cloth & Culture, Taylor & Francis, 20 April 2023.

  21. Dr. Shruti Gupta was invited as an expert to create a 30 hours module for the Skill Course; Fashion Studies on 19.04.23. This course is offered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), India
  22. Mr. Pramod Kumar, Associate Professor was invited as an expert to deliver a seminar on “Sustainability through Multifunctional Garments” for the faculties of Chandigarh group of College (CGC) on 16th February 2023.
  23. Mr. Pramod Kumar conducted a workshop organized by the NITTTR Chandigarh Ministry of Education, Govt. of India for the curriculum development of Fashion Design Department of HSBTE on 24th January 2023.

  25. Mr. Deep Sagar Verma was invited as a speaker at the Bcrypt conference, Greater Noida on 7th April 2023 on the topic of "Digital Revolution in Fashion in the era of Metaverse and AI".
