1. Name of the Project:

Showcasing the Handlooms of Bihar in Bihar Pavilion During IITF 2010

Objectives of the project:

To create a static display in Bihar Pavilion for the visitors in IITF 2010 to highlight the arts and crafts of Bihar

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

A team of NIFT Patna created a display focussing various arts and crafts practiced across length and breadth of the state ranging from Silk, Sujani to Madhubani. The same was done by creating windows inside the pavilion with garments especially selected for the occasion.

Name of the Project:

Showcasing of Handlooms of Bihar on Bihar Diwas 2013

Objectives of the project:

To identify the finest crafts practiced in the state and project them through a fashion show in order to generate awaresness and business for the crafts practiced.

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

NIFT Patna sourced fabrics from different clusters of Bihar and developed a range of garments for the project. A logo for Clusters of Bihar was created and was unveiled during Bihar Diwas celebrations at Delhi Haat in New Delhi. A fashion show was conceptualised and carried on at Siri Fort stadium in New Delhi where all the garments developed at NIFT Patna was showcased. For the first time ever the weavers from theses clusters were given a chance to walk the ramp and receive appreciation and admiration from the audience.

Name of the Project:

Showcasing Silks of bihar during IITF 2013

Objectives of the project:

To highlight the finest quality of silks being produced in the clusters of Bihar during India International Trade Fair 2013.

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

NIFT Patna created a range of ethnic and Indo western garments and conceptualised a fashion show which was carried on during IITF 2013 at Hansdhwani theatre. The show highlighted the silks produced in Bihar as the entire range of the garments were beautifully created in silk fabric produced by weavers in clusters of Bihar.

Name of the Project:

Bhagalpur Mega Cluster

Objectives of the project:

To develop Bhagalpur Mega Cluster

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

Bhagalpur has been identified as a mega cluster and Ministry of Textiles has appointed NIFT Patna as Cluster Management and Training Agency (CMTA). NIFT Patna has conducted a baseline survey in the 17 blocks of Bhagalpur and adjoining areas where more than 15000 handloom weavers are still practicing the craft. A detailed project report has been prepared and submitted for approval. The further plan encompasses a holistic growth of the cluster of weavers which includes interventions in design production and marketing of the products produced in these craft clusters.

Showcasing  Traditional garments of Bihar at Sonepur Fair

Objectives of the project:

To  showcase the traditional garments of Bihar at Sonepur fair 2014.

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

NIFT Patna was asked to create awareness about the traditional garments of Bihar along with arts and crafts practiced in the state at Sonepur Fair 2014. A Fashion show was conceptualised and executed at the fair. It also helped department of tourism, government of Bihar to uphold the image the of the fair and added to the awareness of visitors about the arts and crafts practiced in the state.

Name of the Project:

Showcasing of Indian Ethnic wear garment at International Rajgir Mahotsav

Objectives of the project:

To showcase Indian Ethnic wear garments at International Rajgir Mahotsav 2014-15

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

With the growing importance of places like Rajgir, Nalanda and Bodhgaya in Bihar, International Rajgir Matosav has grown bigger and bigger in its shape and form. In order to depict the international nature of the fair and importance of arts and crafts of Bihar and India at the International forum, Department of tourism and district administration of Rajgir had approached NIFT Patna to showcase the Indian traditional wear garments at the Rajgir Mahotsav 2014-15. A Fashion show was conceptualised and executed which created awareness about arts and crafts of Bihar and how the same could be depicted at international levels.

7.

Name of the Project:

Study of Readymade Garment Clusters of Patna

Objectives of the project:

To study the readymade garment clusters in and around Patna to help TIFAC in creating a road map for their development.

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

NIFT Patna has been assigned the task of studying the readymade garment cluster of Patna and areas around Patna. The study is aimed at identifying potential for development of this cluster. The Department of Fashion Technology has already started the project and has conducted an awareness seminar. The focus is on use of technology for better production quality and performance of these clusters.

Name of the Project:

Study of Lacquer Craft practiced in Muzaffarpur

Objectives of the project:

To study the Lacquer Craft practiced in Muzaffarpur and prepare a report highlighting the areas for development

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/ Handicraft:

Muzaffarpur in Bihar houses artisans who practiced the age old traditional Lacquer Craft. Development commissioner handicrafts has entrusted NIFT Patna to study the craft and submit a report for the same. The study is designed to understand the craft and develop a road map for development of the craft.

9.

Name of the Project:

Study of Stone Craft practiced in Gaya

Objectives of the project:

To study the Stone Craft practiced in Gaya and prepare a report highlighting the areas for development

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/Handicraft:

Gaya in Bihar houses artisans who practiced the age old traditional Stone Craft. Development commissioner handicrafts has entrusted NIFT Patna to study the craft and submit a report for the same. The study is designed to understand the craft and develop a road map for development of the craft.

10.

Name of the Project:

Third Party Assessment for the students of Kaushal Vikas Yojna

Objectives of the project:

To evaluate the level of participants in the Kaushal Vikas Yojna.

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/Handicraft:

NIFT Patna has accepted to play the role of Third Party to assess the level of students/participants who have been given training in the field of Garmenting by the agency appointed by Department of Industries, Government of Bihar. The participants learning from the course have to be evaluated and accordingly recommendations have to be made. In total 16 different districts of Bihar has to be covered under the project.

11.

Name of the Project:

Development of Khadi Industry of Bihar

Objectives of the project:

To formulate an action plan and see to the development of the Khadi products in the state.

Nature of design innovation/ contribution towards Handloom/Handicraft:

NIFT Patna is signing an MOU with the State Khadi Board for developement and enhancement of Khadi products in terms of Product, finsihing, packaging and creating a positive brand image. The project aims at giving a fresh look to Bihar Khadi and developing it commercially.
