  1. NIFT Gandhinagar organized a 13 days TOT on Leather & Rexene, sponsored by GRIMCO (Gujarat Rural Industries Marketing Corporation Limited). The inauguration was held on 22nd February 2023 in the presence of Chief Guest Shri Pravin K. Solanki IAS, Commissioner of Cottage & Rural Industries. Prof (Dr.) Sameer Sood, Director NIFT Gandhinagar, welcomed the Chief Guest and MD GRIMCO, Dr Anil Prajapati with the bouquets. The inaugural ceremony commenced with lamp lighting. The TOT was conducted by Mr. Sunil Kumar, Asst. Prof. (F&LA) as a project coordinator and Mr. Ranjeet Kumar as a PIT member. The training was provided to 30 trainers in the area of leather and Rexene and was successfully completed. The closing ceremony and the certificate distribution was done in the presence of MD, Dr. Anil Prajapati on 15th March 2023.

  2. Center of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) - In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) under  “Center of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK)”, one “Spoke for KHADI” has been setup at the campus.

  3. Conducted a 12-days intensive programme on design and market sensitization for handloom weavers to uplift the skills of weavers identified by indext-C from across the state of Gujarat (2021).

  4. Implemented the Design Resource Center (DRC) project at Weaver’s Service Centre, Ahmedabad during June – August 2020,  wherein the archive section was created, revamped and did facelift of the handloom Weaving section, developed the reception area and carried out the complete planning, layout, design and display of DRC. Display boards on information on Weaver’s Service Centre, Woven crafts of Gujarat and looms of Gujarat were also created as a part of the project. The project is sanctioned by the DC (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles. The work carried out by the team of faculty and students was well appreciated by the Hon’ble Minister of Textiles. 

  5. Eight different workshops were organized at Gandhinagar during 2018 to upgrade the skills of artisans identified by indext-C, Government of Gujarat in the following areas.
    i) Embroidery ii) Tailoring (2 batches) iii) Matikam (2 batches) iv) Jewellery designing  v) Block printing vi) Weaving

  6. Executed a project on Designing of Uniforms for Tourist Guides at the Statue of Unity (Kevadiya Colony) for Tourism Department, Govt. of Gujarat (2017). 

  7. Executed a project on Designing of Costumes for the Priests of Somnath Temple (2017). 

  8. ASHA Workers’ Uniform Project - To provide uniform designs for ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) Workers who are community health workers instituted by the government of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) as part of the National Rural Health Mission (2016).

  9. Executed a project on the Designing and development of Sari for Aganwadi Workers and helpers of ICDS, Government of Gujarat (2016)

  10. Organised customised skill development training programme for women working in the spinning division of M/s Arvind on Fire Resistant Garments.

  11. Development of collection of Garments for the Fashion Show organised by SRTEPC during International trade exhibition at Surat (2016) - To design wearable garments, showcasing fashionable and trendy use of synthetic fabrics manufactured in India.  

  12. A thematic pavilion was designed during the event showcasing the innovations in Gujarat art & craft. Also, showcased the innovative craft products developed by NIFT with various craft clusters across Gujarat. The objective of this pavilion was to showcase India’s large legacy in the craft & handloom sector with innovations to suit the need of modern international and domestic consumers (2015). 

  13. Design Development, Quality Enhancement and Establishing Market Linkages for Bamboo Craft District of Gondia Maharastra - To design develop prototypes out of bamboo wood and establish market linkages and provide professional training in the tribal area of Gondia District, and establish market linkages and training programmes were conducted.

  14. Craft Study Tour (Gujarat), India by TAFE Queensland Brisbane Australia - Craft sensitization tours for the participants from Global Education Skills Alliance, Tafe, Brisbane Australia. 

  15. Craft Innovation Pavilion at Garvi Gurjari National Craft Summit & Fair 2015 at Baroda - To bring forward and innovative designs of different stories of famous crafts of Gujarat like Ikat, Tangalia, Stone Carving, Sujani, Bamboo work, Mud work and Embroidery.

  16. Designing Formal Accessories for Senior Officials & Delegates of Vibrant Gujarat Submit 2015 - To design and develop the prototypes of formal accessories like Tie, Tie-Pin, Cufflink, Bracelet, cravat, Brooch, scarf, stole etc for both men and women to be worn by the senior officials and delegates of Vibrant Gujarat.

  17. Khadi Trend & Forecasting Pavilion 2015 (Vibrant Khadi Utsav 2015) - To enhance the popularity of Khadi, spread the Gandhian philosophy and create awareness in the next generation of employment in tribal areas based on Khadi Products.
