Celebrating Handloom Day

National Handloom Day is observed annually on 7th August to honour the handloom weavers of India and to recognize their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. The date commemorates the launch of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905, which emphasized indigenous industries and self-reliance. Handlooms not only reflect India's rich cultural heritage but also empower millions of artisans across the nation. Celebrating Handloom Day is a reaffirmation of our commitment to preserve, promote, and support the handloom sector.

हैंडलूम डे का महत्व

प्रत्येक वर्ष 7 अगस्त को राष्ट्रीय हैंडलूम दिवस मनाया जाता है, ताकि भारत के बुनकरों को सम्मान दिया जा सके और देश के सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास में उनके योगदान को मान्यता दी जा सके। यह तिथि 1905 में शुरू हुए स्वदेशी आंदोलन की याद दिलाती है, जिसमें स्वदेशी उद्योगों और आत्मनिर्भरता पर ज़ोर दिया गया था। हैंडलूम केवल भारत की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत का प्रतीक नहीं हैं, बल्कि ये लाखों कारीगरों को रोजगार और आत्मसम्मान भी प्रदान करते हैं।

About the Quiz

To commemorate Handloom Day 2025, NIFT Gandhinagar is organising a quiz competition that celebrates India's handloom legacy. The quiz aims to engage participants in exploring the vibrant history, diverse techniques, and cultural significance of Indian handlooms.

हैंडलूम डे 2025 के उपलक्ष्य में, निफ्ट गांधीनगर द्वारा एक क्विज प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जा रहा है, जिसका उद्देश्य भारत की हैंडलूम परंपराओं को समझना और सराहना करना है।

Starting date: 10:00 AM, 1st August 2025

Closing date: 5:00 PM, 5th August 2025

Total Questions: 16 Multiple Choice Questions, 15 Minutes + 5 Minutes for personal details

Qualifying Criteria: 75% correct answers (i.e., at least 12 correct)

Terms and Conditions

1. NIFT faculty, staff members and their relatives cannot participate in this quiz. Other than them the entry to the Quiz is open to all Indian Citizens./ निफ्ट के संकाय, कर्मचारी और उनके रिश्तेदार इस क्विज़ में भाग नहीं ले सकते। उनके अलावा क्विज़ में प्रवेश सभी भारतीय नागरिकों के लिए खुला है।
2. You will be required to provide your name, email address, telephone number and postal address. By submitting your contact details, you will give consent to these details being used for the Quiz and also for receiving promotional content./ आपको अपना नाम, ईमेल पता, टेलीफोन नंबर और डाक पता प्रदान करना आवश्यक होगा। अपना संपर्क विवरण सबमिट करके, आप इन विवरणों का उपयोग क्विज़ के लिए और प्रचार सामग्री प्राप्त करने के लिए भी सहमति देंगे।
3. Multiple entries from the same participant will not be accepted. / एक ही प्रतिभागी की एकाधिक प्रविष्टियाँ स्वीकार नहीं की जाएंगी।
4. The same mobile number and same email ID cannot be used more than once for participation in the quiz. / क्विज़ में भाग लेने के लिए एक ही मोबाइल नंबर और एक ही ईमेल आईडी का एक से अधिक बार उपयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है।
5. Discovery/detection/noticing of use of any unfair/spurious means/malpractices, including but not limited to impersonation, double participation etc., during the participation in the quiz, will result in the participation being declared null and void and hence, rejected. The organizers of the quiz competition or any agency acting on their behalf reserves the right in this regard. / प्रश्नोत्तरी में भाग लेने के दौरान किसी भी अनुचित/नकली साधन/कदाचार के उपयोग की खोज/पता लगाना/देखना, जिसमें प्रतिरूपण, दोहरी भागीदारी आदि शामिल है, लेकिन इन्हीं तक सीमित नहीं है, के परिणामस्वरूप भागीदारी को अमान्य घोषित कर दिया जाएगा और इसलिए, अस्वीकार कर दिया जाएगा। प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता के आयोजक या उनकी ओर से कार्य करने वाली कोई भी एजेंसी इस संबंध में अधिकार सुरक्षित रखती है।
6. Once submitted an entry cannot be withdrawn./एक बार प्रविष्टि जमा करने के बाद उसे वापस नहीं लिया जा सकता।
7. Organizers will not accept any responsibility for entries that are lost, are late or incomplete or have not been transmitted due to computer error or any other error beyond the organizer’s reasonable control. Please note proof of submission of the entry is not proof of receipt of the same./ आयोजक उन प्रविष्टियों के लिए कोई जिम्मेदारी स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे जो खो गई हैं, देर से आई हैं या अधूरी हैं या कंप्यूटर त्रुटि या आयोजक के उचित नियंत्रण से परे किसी अन्य त्रुटि के कारण प्रसारित नहीं हुई हैं। कृपया ध्यान दें कि प्रविष्टि जमा करने का प्रमाण उसकी प्राप्ति का प्रमाण नहीं है।
8. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, organizers reserve the right to amend or withdraw the Quiz at any time. For the avoidance of doubt this includes the right to amend these terms and conditions./ अप्रत्याशित परिस्थितियों की स्थिति में, आयोजक किसी भी समय प्रश्नोत्तरी में संशोधन करने या वापस लेने का अधिकार सुरक्षित रखते हैं। संदेह से बचने के लिए इसमें इन नियमों और शर्तों में संशोधन करने का अधिकार शामिल है।
9. The participant shall abide by all the rules and regulations of participating in the Quiz from time to time./ प्रतिभागी को समय-समय पर क्विज़ में भाग लेने के सभी नियमों और विनियमों का पालन करना होगा।
10. Organizers reserve all rights to disqualify or refuse participation to any participant if they deem participation or association of any participant, which is detrimental to the Quiz or the Organizers or partners of the Quiz/ यदि आयोजक किसी भी प्रतिभागी की भागीदारी या सहयोग को क्विज़ या आयोजकों या क्विज़ के भागीदारों के लिए हानिकारक मानते हैं, तो किसी भी प्रतिभागी को अयोग्य घोषित करने या भागीदारी से इनकार करने के सभी अधिकार सुरक्षित रखते हैं।
11. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the law of the Indian Judiciary./ये नियम और शर्तें भारतीय न्यायपालिका के कानून द्वारा शासित होंगी।
12. Participants need to check regularly on the website for the updates. /अपडेट के लिए हमारी वेबसाइट पर नियमित रूप से जांच करनी होगी ।
13. Organizer’s decision on the Quiz shall be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained regarding the same./ प्रश्नोत्तरी पर आयोजक का निर्णय अंतिम और बाध्यकारी होगा और इसके संबंध में किसी भी पत्राचार पर विचार नहीं किया जाएगा।
14. By participating in the quiz, the participant accepts and agrees to the Terms and Conditions mentioned above./क्विज़ में भाग लेकर, प्रतिभागी ऊपर उल्लिखित नियमों और शर्तों को स्वीकार करता है और उनसे सहमत होता है।

The first 100 qualified contestants will get Handloom GIFT Hampers sponsored by Garvi Gurjari, Gujarat State Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., and Certificates by NIFT Gandhinagar.

Hampers and certificates will be sent by post to the registered address.
