NIFT, Gandhinagar hosted its convocation for the Class of 2023 on 27th October 2023. On this occasion, the academic procession was led by Sh. Rohit Kansal, DG NIFT and Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Textiles GoI, Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar and Prof. Dr. Sudha Dhingra, Dean (Academics), and the convocation commenced with the lighting of lamps and Saraswati Vandana. Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, presented the academic report and announced that the Class of 2023 comprises 184 UG and 82 PG students who have completed their academic journey and are ready to tackle industry challenges and contribute to its growth. The campus has initiated various activities alongside its academic pursuits. Sh. Rohit Kansal, Chief Guest of the convocation, addressed the class of 2023, emphasising the importance of transitioning from a protected environment to a new one. He emphasised that NIFT students have the potential to excel in various aspects of life and represent India as an ambassador to their institutions, families, and country. Sh. Kansal mentioned John F. Kennedy's famous line, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country," encouraging people to think about giving back to society, family, and country. Examples include respecting parents, fairness to co-workers, empathy towards the less privileged, kindness to the environment, following constitutional duties, developing a rational temper, and pride in the 5000-year-old civilisation. He also mentioned the initiatives of Hon'ble PMs Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Vocal for local and Amrit Kaal, aiming to make India a developed economy by the time it completes 100 years. Khadi Mahotsav followed the convocation. The Khadi Mahotsav, a celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's 154th birth anniversary, was held at the NIFT. The exhibition showcased Khadi, a handwoven cotton cloth, as a powerful tool for India's economic and political freedom. The event was inaugurated by Sh. Rohit Kansal DG NIFT and Addl. Secretary MoT GoI and renowned dignitaries including Shri Lalitkumar Fatechand Shah, Expert Member(Mktg) KVIC, Sh. Lalit N. Singh Sandhu, IAS and Sh. Unmesh Dixit, Exec. Director, AMA .
