Ajrakh Demonstration Workshop: 25th November 2021

A demonstration on Ajrakh Prinng process was organized by the Textile Design Department, NIFT Gandhinagar on 25th November, 2021. Expert artisan Mr. Jabbar Khatri who has been practicing the craft for more than 15years was invited for the demonstration under the subject “Textile Heritage of India-I” sem-3. During the workshop, artisans elaborately explained the materials, tools, and processes at each stage of Ajrakh print with suitable teaching pedagogy as well as the samples of materials and outcome at each stage. Logical, practical and geographical factors were explained to answer the question “Why particular process or material is used and sourced and importance of locally sourced materials for better outcome” so that the students can understand the craft in a holistic manner. Students also enjoyed having hands-on printing experience with the materials provided by the artisans and the technique to print with perfection. The artisan also showed the products made for various market segments and explained the key to identify the Ajrakh printed products from Rajasthan and Kutch.
 

Weavers Service Centre Visit: 22nd November 2021 and 23rd November 2021

As a part of course curriculum under the subject “Advance Weaving Design & CAD” a visit to Weavers Service Centre, Ahmedabad was organised by Textile Design Department for TD-7 students on 22nd and 23rd November 2021.

During this visit the students were demonstrated knowhow of Jacquard weaving Technology, and Card punching.
