Hyderabad CampusDr. B. Venkatesh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Knitwear Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad. He specializes in knitwear design, textile materials, textile chemical processing, and sustainable textile applications. He has around 10 years of experience in teaching and research and has served as the Link Regional Industry Coordinator for three years, facilitating industry–academia engagement and institutional collaborations.
His research interests focus on sustainable textile coloration, functional finishes, natural and bio-based materials, and the utilization of agricultural waste for value-added applications. His doctoral research explores the application of banana pseudostem sap in the coloration of cotton fabric with reactive dyes. He has published around 20 research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and actively engages in research on sustainable textile processing, natural materials, green technologies, and innovative functional treatments.
Dr. Venkatesh has a strong interest in experiential and industry-oriented education and mentors students in design, textile development, research, and sustainable practices. He actively supports industry visits, workshops, academic events, and outreach activities that connect classroom learning with industrial practices. His professional interests include emerging technologies in textile and fashion design, sustainable innovation, and interdisciplinary approaches to textile education and research.
