NIFT’s academic strategy deeply embraces global internationalism. Over the years, NIFT has consciously increased its international visibility and standing among highly reputable fashion institutes worldwide. The institute maintains strategic agreements and key partnerships with twenty-five leading international fashion organisations sharing similar academic goals. This robust network provides NIFT students with unique opportunities to integrate seamlessly into the global mainstream of fashion. By participating in reciprocal exchange programs with collaborating partner institutes, students gain vital exposure to modern fashion trends. Simultaneously, it offers international students a plethora of excellent study abroad options at NIFT, fostering a dynamic environment of collaborative learning.
These initiatives offer incredible learning opportunities for domestic and international students to interact across various geographies, broadening their horizons while building deep cross-cultural sensitivity. This unique study abroad opportunity remains wide open to international applicants across all twenty NIFT campuses and diverse course disciplines. Furthermore, the specialised I&DL framework enables NIFT professors to actively participate in academic exchange programs, international fairs, seminars, exhibits, conferences and major trade events. This extensive global exposure allows dedicated faculty members to bring invaluable industry expertise back into the classroom, directly enhancing and expanding the overall body of professional knowledge available at NIFT.

The exchange of students with partner institutions takes place either for a semester or for 2-3 weeks as a short-term programme in summer or in the form of one-year dual degrees programme. I&DL supports the exchange activities both for incoming foreign students and outgoing NIFT students.

Strategic partnership of NIFT with Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, USA allows selection of meritorious students from NIFT for a unique opportunity to obtain a Dual Degree from both NIFT and FIT. Students from NIFT undertake two years study at the home Institute (NIFT), intercepted by study of one year at FIT; following which they complete their final year at NIFT.

The cooperation under these MoUs includes the exchange of students, faculty members and staff of the partner institutes; promotion of lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibitions; exchange of information, academic resources and publications; and undertaking other mutually beneficial academic and professional activities.
The key domestic MoUs are as follows:
NIFT Gandhinagar to host Chhaap - a vibrant platform where tradition meets innovation. The event will feature over 100 artisan and NIFT alumni stalls representing diverse crafts, textiles, and creative enterprises from across the country. Visitors can also explore the NIFT Theme Pavilion, NIFT CCI and outreach exhibits, showcasing design-led initiatives and community engagement projects.
