Patna CampusMr. Avinash Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Patna. He brings over 16 years of academic and industry professional experience with expertise in fashion design process, digital design communication, digital fashion illustration, digital fashion, CLO 3D, fashion forecasting, fashion retail, e-commerce, consumer behavior, and sustainable fashion. His teaching integrates design thinking, technology, and industry-oriented practices to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills among students. He actively contributes to curriculum development, academic administration, and industry engagement while promoting experiential and interdisciplinary learning. His research interests encompass consumer buying behavior, omnichannel retailing, handloom marketing, digital commerce, and sustainable fashion ecosystems.
He is pursuing a PhD at the World University of Design, Haryana, where his research examines consumer buying behavior and sales strategies for Odisha handloom products across online and offline retail channels. He has presented research at national and international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and received recognition for his contributions to handloom retail and digital marketing. His scholarly work focuses on developing evidence-based strategies that enhance the competitiveness and market reach of India's traditional textile and handloom sector. Beyond teaching and research, Mr. Kumar mentors students in academic, research, and entrepreneurial pursuits and actively collaborates with industry, government, and artisan stakeholders. He remains committed to preserving India's rich textile heritage while advancing innovation, sustainability, and technology-enabled fashion education through meaningful academic and professional engagement.
