Dr. Bharti Moitra is an Associate Professor with the Department of Fashion Management Studies, having over 26 years of teaching experience with NIFT, Kolkata, since 1999, post a brief stint with a leading international retail brand (Lacoste). She specializes in the areas of Marketing, Brand Management, Visual Merchandising and International Business. She is an alumna of the Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Apparel Marketing & Merchandising (PGDAMM) from NIFT Delhi, batch 1994-1996, and has also completed the bridge programme leading to the Master of Fashion Management degree from NIFT Kolkata.

She is a founder member of the Department of Fashion Management Studies at NIFT Kolkata and served as its Centre Coordinator from 2005-2008. She has been the Chairperson of the Department of Fashion Management Studies. She received her PhD from NIFT, New Delhi and has done a pioneering research in the area of Fair Trade in India, examining the effectiveness of implementation of Fair Trade principles in the apparel & lifestyle sectors in India.
