Associate Professor, Textile Design (BDes)
Dr. G. Krishnaraj is an Associate Professor in the Department of Textile Design at NIFT, Chennai. He has been working with NIFT since November 2005. He handled the portfolio of EAC at NIFT, New Delhi till March 2008 and also completed the various profiles at NIFT Chennai such as CIC, RIC and Centre Coordinator for Textile Department. Presently he is holding the portfolio of Unit In charge - Projects in NIFT, Chennai.
He holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Textile Technology, along with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Textile Technology, with specialization in Engineering Education. His academic background combines expertise in textile technology with a strong focus on engineering education, enabling him to contribute effectively to teaching, research, curriculum development, and the textile and fashion education.
His teaching areas include Fibre to Fabric, Textile Processing (Dyeing, Printing, and Finishing), Fabric Quality Assurance, Innovation in Textiles, and Advanced Weave Design. Through these specialized domains, he equips students with a comprehensive understanding of textile materials, manufacturing processes, quality evaluation, and innovative design approaches, fostering both technical competence and creative problem-solving skills.
His research interests encompass Weaving, Textile Dyeing, Printing, and Finishing, Natural Dyeing, Quality Management in Textile and Fashion, Smart Textiles, and Engineering and Fashion Education. His research focuses on advancing sustainable textile technologies, improving quality assurance practices, promoting innovation in textile materials and processes, integrating smart textile technologies, and enhancing teaching and learning methodologies in engineering and fashion education.
