Associate Professor, Fashion Design (BDes)
Dr.Geetha Ranjini is an Associate Professor with the department of Fashion Design is a millennial batch FD graduate from NIFT, Bangalore, with the award of best fabric development. With the rich knowledge of Fashion Design, Graphic Design for Fashion, Master's in Business Administration, and teaching experience of 26 years. She has a rich knowledge of Handlooms of Tamilnadu after completing her Ph.D. research on ‘Sustainability of Silk Weavers in Tamilnadu’. The Passion for Design education brought her to NIFT, Chennai in the year 2003. Her versatile experience in the field of the Fashion industry, Leather, Denim, and MBA has helped her to handle multiple subjects.
The subjects of interest are Fashion Studies, Draping, Fashion Design and Illustration, History of Costumes, Surface Embellishments, Portfolio, Integrated Design Project, Craft studies, and Design Process to Collection. She has contributed to prestigious projects like designing for KVIC, uniform design for Renault Nissan, Installation, activity and experience design for Sterling Resorts (Ooty and Mussoorie), and Design Resource Centre for Kanchipuram WSC.
Her contribution to the Handloom and Handicraft sector has been through various activities like training the Artisans on Trend Forecasting, organising Fashion Shows for the Handloom products with Co-optex, being invited as a Jury member for the selection of ‘Empanelled Designer’ by the Development Commission of Handicrafts, and also guiding students to do Craft Research documentation and for Design Interventions.
