Dr. Rajitha is an Associate Professor in the Department of Knitwear Design at NIFT Hyderabad. She holds a Doctorate in Textile & Clothing and has over 27 years of cumulative experience spanning the textile industry, ICAR research projects and academics, including around 21 years of teaching and academic experience at NIFT. She teaches Undergarduate and Post graduate courses and guides the Ph D scholars. Dr. Rajitha is a co-inventor on two patents related to research on Engineered Green Paints for Commercial Textile Printing. She has a strong interest in traditional crafts and actively engages in craft-based projects that support and empower artisans. As a passionate academician, she takes pride in mentoring and inspiring students, fostering creativity, research orientation and a deeper appreciation of textiles, crafts and sustainable design.
She has undertaken several academic and administrative responsibilities at NIFT, including Co-Centre Coordinator, Centre Coordinator – Foundation Programme, Unit Incharge – FOTD, Cluster Initiative Coordinator, Unit Incharge – Continuing Education Programmes and Ph.D. supervisor.
Her areas of expertise include Textiles, Clothing, Fashion, Natural Fibres and Dyes, Body Sizing and related areas. She has published more than 20 research papers in national and international journals, including publications in Scopus-indexed journals. She has authored a book on Garment Making for the State Board of Vocational Education, contributed chapters to CBSE textbooks and developed a CAD-based Pattern Making teaching manual. She also contributes to several State Government and industry projects, including DRDA, NEPGEL, SERP, Dress Code Designing and NMDC Uniform Design.
