Shillong CampusDr. Natalie Jo-Anne Diengdoh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong. She specialises in media studies, folklore, cultural communication, documentary production, and indigenous knowledge systems. With over two decades of professional experience in media and more than ten years in higher education, she brings extensive expertise in teaching, research, and creative practice. She teaches courses in film, television, photography, research methodology, communication, visual storytelling, branding and promotions, fashion communication, integrating academic inquiry with industry perspectives.
Her research examines Khasi folklore, oral traditions, matrilineality, ritual practices, media representation, digital storytelling, and cultural documentation. She has authored seven books, numerous book chapters, and research articles, and has presented papers at national and international conferences. Her work emphasises preserving indigenous knowledge through interdisciplinary research, ethnographic documentation, and audio-visual methods, while exploring the intersections of culture, communication, identity, and contemporary media.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Diengdoh actively mentors students, contributes to academic development initiatives, and engages in community-oriented documentation projects. She enjoys writing, field research, photography, filmmaking, and documenting oral histories. Her commitment to lifelong learning, cultural preservation, and meaningful public engagement continues to shape her academic and professional contributions.
