Dr. Pompy Paul is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata. She specialises in media and communication studies, design research and cultural studies. She joined the National Institute of Fashion Technology in September 2022. Prior to which, she served as a Communication Specialist in CCHRC in Assam. Completing a Bachelor degree in Media Technology from St. Anthony’s College (NEHU), she pursued a Master degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Assam University, where she received the gold medal for academic excellence (2015-17). She also earned her doctoral degree from her alma, Assam University in 2024. Dr. Paul is a recipient of the National Foundation for India (NFI) Media Fellowship, 2021, for her journalistic work on digital inaccessibility in the periphery of the country. She is also a recipient of Lt. Amit Kumar Nag Memorial award in Journalism. She has presented academic papers in national and international conferences and seminars, and has published research papers and chapters in national and international journals/ books.
