Dr. R. Ramachandran is a Professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kannur, and specializes in sustainable fashion product development, advanced weave structures and design, 3D printing technology in fashion, and 3D apparel simulation and fit analysis. He brings over 25 years of teaching, research, and industry experience in textile and apparel technology. He holds a B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and Ph.D., and previously served at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, rising from Lecturer to Professor over more than two decades.
His research focuses on knitted fabric engineering, moisture management and comfort properties, 3D printed structures, and virtual fit simulation for apparel. He has published 70+ papers in national and international journals and conferences , and contributed 5 book chapters, including publications with Springer Nature. He has completed 6 sponsored projects worth over ?61 lakhs, funded by Ministry of Skill Development& Entrepreneurship, Government. of India and has organized 21 workshops and 13 short-term training programmes.
Dr. Ramachandran is a Certified Engineering Education Educator from Cambridge University, UK, and a Certified Entrepreneurship Educator from NEN-IIMB-Stanford University, USA, and has completed Dale Carnegie Training in High Impact Teaching Skills. He received the Best Teacher of the Year Award from PSG & Sons' Charities in 2017 for his academic excellence and institutional development and continues to mentor UG, PG, and Ph.D. scholars while actively contributing to curriculum development and academic governance.

Completed PhD in Clothing Technology from Anna University , Chennai in 2014. Thesis title: "Effect of Thermal Zone on Modified Treble Rove Ring Yarn."

Completed Masters (M.Tech) in Textile Technology from Anna University (PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore), in 2008.

Completed Bachelors (B.Tech) in Textile Technology from Bharathiar University (PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore), in 2004.
