Dr. Sandeep Sachan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion Interior at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Varanasi. He has more than 25 years of experience in higher education, academic administration, and institutional leadership. During his career, he has served as campus director, joint director, associate professor, and head of department in different technical and design institutions. His expertise spans interior design, furniture design, sustainable materials, design innovation, campus planning, admission processes, laboratory development, academic administration, and strategic institutional development. He combines engineering principles with design thinking to promote interdisciplinary learning, industry collaboration, and sustainable design education.

Dr. Sachan's research interests include sustainable design, interior design, energy management, renewable energy, craft cluster development, design innovation, and industry-oriented education. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. He has presented and published research papers in national and international journals and conferences. He has contributed to government-sponsored craft cluster projects and has actively promoted collaborations between academia, industry, and artisan communities. During his professional career, he successfully established advanced laboratories, strengthened research and innovation activities, and played a significant role in developing academic infrastructure and learning ecosystems across multiple NIFT campuses. Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Sachan actively mentors students in research, innovation, and design projects while encouraging experiential and community-based learning. He has established specialized laboratories, promoted industry–academia collaborations, and coordinated government-supported craft cluster initiatives that connect design education with traditional artisans and local communities. He remains committed to strengthening design education through innovation, interdisciplinary research, and meaningful engagement with industry and society.
