Dr. Shakeel Iqbal, Associate Professor at Department of Fashion Technology, National Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad, holds Ph.D degree in Textile Engineering (Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded) from Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University,  Nanded (M.S). He did his Master’s in Textile Engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara (Gujarat)

He has 27 years of teaching, research and training experience in the field of textile and apparel. He joined National Institute of Fashion Technology Hyderabad in April 2008. He did the additional responsibility of Centre Coordinator (HOD), Department of Fashion Technology from 2013 to 2016 and again from 2021 to 2024. He was also the Students Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC) from 2017 to 2020. Before joining NIFT Hyderabad, he worked as a faculty in Department of Textile Engineering, Jawaharlal Darda Institute of Engineering & Technology, Yavatmal (M.S) for 9 academic years.

He has presented & published 28 papers in various National & International Conferences & Journals related to textile and apparels. He has organized and conducted many conferences and training programmes. He is the reviewer of many reputed Textile Journals including Textile Research Journal.

He is the active member of various professional bodies like, Textile Association of India, Indian Society for Technical Education, Institution of Engineers.
