Dr. Sneha Bhatnagar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai. A graduate of NIFT Gandhinagar, she has over 16 years experience in academia and the fashion industry, with expertise in Fashion Forecasting, Fashion and Design History, Surface Ornamentation Techniques, Digital Fashion, Craft Studies, Design Research, and Kidswear Fashion. Since beginning her academic career in 2014, she has been actively engaged in teaching, curriculum development, research, and industry collaborations.
Her doctoral research explored the depiction of dress and fashion in classical novels, reflecting her interdisciplinary interest in literature, costume, identity, and visual culture. Her research spans sustainable fashion, digital fashion, luxury fashion, fashion education, craft studies, and fashion history, with a particular focus on integrating emerging technologies into design pedagogy.
Dr. Bhatnagar has contributed to the international academic community as Session Chair for Fashion and Society at the European Conference on Arts & Humanities (ECAH 2025), London, and Teaching and Learning at the Southeast Asian Conference on Arts and Humanities (SEACAH 2026), Singapore. Passionate about India's textile heritage, she promotes innovation rooted in traditional crafts while inspiring future designers through research, creativity, sustainability, and interdisciplinary learning.
