Dr. Sonali Roshan Saldanha is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion Management Studies at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai. A doctorate in Management, her passion for teaching led her to join NIFT in 1998, where she has contributed for over 28 years in diverse academic and administrative capacities.
Over the course of her tenure, Dr. Saldanha has held several key positions in NIFT , including Head of the Department of Fashion Management Studies, Head of the Department of Foundation Programme, Coordinator for Domestic & International Linkages, Regional Industry Coordinator, Coordinator for Part-Time Programmes such as Fashion Retail Management, . and Unit –In- Charge ( Projects ).
Her teaching expertise spans a wide range of subjects, including Fashion Concepts, Fashion & Luxury Management, Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Advertising, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Craft Studies, Consumer Behaviour , Critical Thinking Skills etc.
Dr. Saldanha has several research paper publications to her credit in reputed national and international journals, particularly in the areas of Visual Merchandising, Consumer Behaviour, Luxury and Sustainability and Craft Studies. She was also selected by NIFT to attend the International Winter Programme on Fashion and Luxury Management at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Hong Kong.
Beyond her academic contributions, Dr. Saldanha has actively engaged in a wide spectrum of co-curricular and institutional development initiatives, reflecting her commitment to holistic education and professional excellence. She also has a flair to work with the artisans for various craft clusters of India and sensitise them to the realities of the ever-evolving business landscape and appreciate their skills and talents.
