Dr. Sreenanda Palit is an Associate Professor at NIFT Kolkata and specializes in fashion communication, styling, and craft-based research. She completed her B.Des in Fashion Design from NIFT and holds a PG Certificate in Fashion & Lifestyle Journalism from the London College of Fashion, along with a Master's in Journalism and Mass Communication. She trained in Fashion Styling at Domus Academy, Milan, before pursuing her PhD in sustainable craft practices. Prior to joining NIFT, she worked for four years as a fashion stylist, illustrator, designer, and graphic artist, alongside experience as visiting faculty. Her passion for academics and craft led her to join her alma mater in 2003, where she has since headed the Fashion & Textile Department and initiated the Fashion Communication Department, also serving as SDAC, CIL, UI-Projects, and CCC.
Dr. Palit brings over 22 years of experience in the craft sector and undertakes several prominent research projects in this domain. She has published numerous papers and presents her research on fashion and craft at national and international platforms, including multiple IFFTI conferences.
In her capacity as CCC, Dr. Palit undertakes extensive creative graphic work within the institution and has designed for prominent government events on behalf of NIFT, including for the MoT. She is a sought-after speaker at panel discussions organized by craft and textile-based NGOs and sustainable fashion brands and has contributed to faculty selection processes at various universities.
