Gauraw Govind serves as an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Varanasi. He specializes in western couture, advanced pattern making, corsetry, and high-value garment construction. With over a decade of combined industry and academic experience, he integrates hands-on artisanal craft with technical design pedagogy. He holds a Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design from NIFT Kangra and a Master of Fashion Management from NIFT Gandhinagar, having previously served across NIFT campuses in Rae Bareli, Varanasi, Jodhpur, Kangra, Bhubaneshwar, Srinagar, Panchkula and New Delhi.

His research focuses on indigenous textiles, the anthropological evolution of Art history, and historical corsetry techniques. He actively investigates the structural preservation of heritage craft practices alongside contemporary bridal construction methods. He has conducted specialized advanced draping workshops for premier design institutes like NID and FDDI, mentoring design students in complex technical execution and material behavior.

Beyond the classroom, he mentors emerging designers and collaborates closely with traditional craft clusters and master artisans. He takes a keen interest in outdoor touring, ergonomics, and cross-disciplinary studies connecting traditional material culture with modern apparel business dynamics.
