Niraj Kumar Jaiswal is a faculty member in the Department of Fashion Technology at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra. He specializes in apparel production and teaches quality assurance, pattern making, product analysis, apparel costing, and apparel manufacturing. He has extensive professional experience across the apparel production system, including sampling, costing, CAD, production planning, sourcing, material optimization, sewing-room control, industrial engineering, work study, method study, and human-resource management. He has also contributed to setting up factories and managed his own apparel business.
His research interests focus on technology adoption, apparel manufacturing, and entrepreneurship. He has written research on the use of technology in apparel manufacturing and its impact on the industry. He is currently pursuing a PhD on a comparative study of Vietnamese and Indian apparel manufacturing industries, with particular interest in identifying practices that can strengthen manufacturing competitiveness and industry-academia collaboration.
His professional interests include innovative pedagogy and developing growth-oriented approaches that encourage students to become confident, responsible, and industry-ready professionals. He actively participates in social and environmental initiatives and promotes awareness of cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility among students. His hobbies include badminton, fitness training, trekking, and outdoor activities, which support his commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle.
