Rajish K. Ravindran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design Space at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kannur. He holds a Master of Design (M.Des) degree and brings over 13 years of combined professional experience, including seven years in academia and six years in the design industry. His teaching and practice span Strategic Design Management, Design Innovation, Business of Design, Brand Strategy and Communication, Personal Branding, and Design Research. He is committed to integrating industry practices with design education to foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving among future designers.
His research interests include strategic design, design innovation, design education, AI in design, user experience, branding and communication, sustainable design, and industry–academia collaboration. He has published research in the International Journal of Home Science (2025) and The IUP Journal of Brand Management(2026). His notable funded projects include the NID Design Clinic Scheme for MSMEs project on microwave-friendly terracotta ware (2013) and the design of graduation ceremonial attire for IIT Palakkad using pure handloom materials (2020). He actively mentors student research, startups, and interdisciplinary industry collaborations.
Beyond academics, Rajish is passionate about curriculum development, mentoring emerging designers, and promoting practice-based learning. His interests include travelling, trekking, reading non-fiction, psychology, human behaviour, public policy, and governance, which continually enrich his perspective on design, innovation, and education.
