S. Prabhakar is an Assistant Professor and serves as Unit In-Charge (Academic), Controller of Examinations (COE), and CE Programme Coordinator in the Department of Fashion Technology at NIFT Chennai. He has 10 years of professional and academic experience in education, technology, and academic administration. His areas of expertise include Fashion Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, Operations Research, and Embedded Systems. He holds a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering and Operations Research from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, a Master of Computer Applications from the University of Madras, and a Higher Diploma in Software Engineering. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies, with a focus on developing intelligent wearable technologies for the apparel industry.

His research interests include Operations Research, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems, and intelligent wearable technologies for apparel applications. His current research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence, sensing technologies, and smart wearable systems to develop innovative solutions for the apparel and fashion industry. He has also contributed to academic and institutional technology initiatives and applies data-driven and computational approaches to teaching, research, and problem-solving. He previously served as Unit In-Charge IT and Coordinator for DDFS and HR applications at NIFT New Delhi, where he supported institutional technology and administrative systems. His professional strengths include leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, communication, and research.

In addition to his academic and research responsibilities, S. Prabhakar actively engages in curriculum development, faculty training, academic coordination, student mentoring, and technology-oriented educational initiatives. He takes an interest in emerging technologies and their practical applications in fashion and education. He promotes interdisciplinary learning by connecting fashion, technology, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and embedded systems. Through his academic and administrative responsibilities, he contributes to institutional development, student learning, and the adoption of technology-driven approaches in higher education.
