Sathish S is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories (F&LA) at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai. He specializes in Accessories Design, Leather Design, Leather Goods and Manufacturing, Fashion Forecasting, Design Research and Methodologies, and Fashion Management. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Leather Technology from A.C. Tech, Anna University (CLRI), Chennai, and a Master’s degree in Space Design from NIFT, New Delhi. With more than nine years of professional experience in the fashion and retail industry, he has worked with major organizations including Lifestyle – Landmark Group, VF Corporation, Bhartiya International, and Indian Terrain. His professional expertise includes Design and Product Development, Trends and Forecasting, Graphic Design, Retail Buying and Planning, Sourcing, and Vendor Management. He joined NIFT Chennai in 2021 and currently teaches subjects including Luxury Product Design, Design Management, Portfolio Presentation, Couture Jewelry, Craft Based Design Project, CAD 3D and Contemporary Manufacturing, Travel & Outdoor Gear Design Project, Simple Design Project, and Design Detailing.

His research interests focus on natural composites, sustainable materials, accessories design, leather and product development, and contemporary manufacturing processes. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the area of Natural Composites, with a focus on sustainable material applications. He has presented research posters at the International Conference on Fashion, Apparel and Textile 2022, Amity University, and Indian Handloom & Handicrafts 2022 at NIFT Kangra. His research work has also been presented and published through the International Conference on Fashion, Apparel and Textile 2025 at Amity University and Shodh Shikhar – International Conference on Research, Innovation & Science Communication 2025 at RNT University. His academic interests integrate design practice, material exploration, digital technologies, and contemporary product development approaches.

In addition to teaching and research, Sathish S actively contributes to academic administration, student mentoring, and institutional activities. He served as the SAP Club Advisor from 2022 to 2023 and as Student Development and Activity Coordinator (SDAC) from 2023 to 2026, supporting student development and campus activities. He is particularly interested in emerging design technologies, digital fabrication, product innovation, fashion accessories, and the integration of traditional craft practices with contemporary design methods. His professional engagement with industry and academia enables him to mentor students by connecting design concepts, market understanding, manufacturing processes, and real-world product development.
