Siddharth Aredath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra. He completed his undergraduate education in Fashion Design from NIFT Delhi and postgraduate studies in Communication Design from the IDC School of Design, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. With over a decade of experience across design practice and academia, he brings together perspectives from fashion, communication design, design education and strategic communication. At NIFT, he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses and contributes to curriculum development, academic initiatives and institutional communication through his role in the Corporate Communication Cell.
His work explores craft traditions, folklore, material culture and the relationship between communities and their surroundings. Through field research, visual ethnography, photography and film, he examines ways of observing, recording and translating lived experiences into visual narratives. His contributions include publications, academic presentations and collaborative projects focused on craft ecosystems, design interventions and information design. His engagement with Himalayan landscapes, natural history and regional practices continues to inform his teaching, research and creative practice.
