Ms. Anusha Arun is an Assistant Professor with the department of Knitwear Design at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kannur, Kerala India. She has extensive professional experience of 5 years in retail, visual Merchandising with H&M India and Pantaloons Fashion & Retail. She is ambitious, and her passion for pursuing her career in design and academics motivated her to join NIFT in the year 2019. She has 7 years of experience as a faculty in at NIFT. Areas of expertise include pattern making, fashion illustration, fashion history, fashion styling and image creation, craft research and documentation, fashion, society and culture, and design thinking.
Her research interests focus on fashion studies, heritage textiles, design research, digital fashion, and craft documentation. She is particularly interested in exploring the intersections of traditional craft practices, contemporary design, and cultural narratives. She holds a Master of Design (Design Space) from NIFT Mumbai, an MBA in Marketing from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, and a Bachelor of Science in Costume and Fashion Designing from the University of Calicut.
Apart from teaching and research activities, Ms. Anusha Arun is involved in student mentoring and industry–academia engagement. Her bigger academic vision is to position herself as a hybrid expert, connecting traditional knowledge systems with future-facing innovation, contributing to a more inclusive, sustainable and technologically integrated fashion landscape.
