Ms. Suruchi Banerjee Dhasmana is an Assistant Professor in the Fashion Communication Department at NIFT, Mumbai. She earned a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from Nottingham Trent University, U.K., after graduating from NIFT, Delhi, in 2003. Specializing in apparel design, UI/UX, and technology-enhanced pedagogy, she brings extensive overall professional and academic experience. Previously, she designed apparel for prominent Indian domestic brands as well as European and American commercial export markets.
Her primary research interests center on design education, indigenous craft preservation, digital gamification, and artificial intelligence in fashion pedagogy. She has presented peer-reviewed research papers at global academic conferences, detailing craft revival methodology, key contributions, artisan empowerment, and psychographics surrounding indigenous crafts across various post-colonial Eastern Asian regions.
Ms. Dhasmana offers unique global perspectives from having lived, worked, and traveled extensively across the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Beyond classroom teaching, she currently coordinates continuing education programs in UI/UX design. Her ongoing engagements emphasize craft documentation, social inclusion, and community engagement, while mentoring creative students in empathetic, human-centered design princilples.
