Saumya Saxena is an Assistant Professor and Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC) at NIFT Panchkula. She specializes in Print Design, Textile CAD, Craft-Based Product Development, and Traditional and World Textiles, employing an interactive teaching approach. She previously worked as a Designer with Shingora Textiles Limited, Ludhiana for over four years. She earned her B.Des in Textile Design from NIFT and her M.Des in Fashion & Textiles from NIIFT, Mohali.
Her research focuses on overlooked sectors, particularly micro-crafts, mental health in creative fields, and sustainable recycling. Her current work explores preserving underrepresented artisan traditions. She previously served as a writer and reviewer with PSSCIVE under NCERT, contributing to vocational design education and curriculum development.
Beyond teaching, she engages in community-centered design initiatives and cross-cultural studies. She maintains a strong personal interest in exploring global cultures, traveling, and photography, which directly enrich her creative vision and pedagogical style.
