Sujit Kumar Mohanty is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Shillong. He specialises in fashion communication, journalism, and media studies, with extensive academic and professional experience spanning higher education and the media industry. Before joining NIFT, he was a founding faculty in the department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Central University of Odisha (A Central University, established by an Act of Parliament), where he taught postgraduate students for over 11 years.
His research interests include Fashion Journalism, Fashion in Popular Culture, and Fashion Anthropology. He actively presents research papers at national and international conferences. His work examines the intersections of fashion, media, culture, and society, contributing to the growing discourse on fashion communication and its evolving role in contemporary contexts.
Before pursuing a full-time academic career, he was associated with prominent media organisations, bringing valuable industry experience to his teaching and research. His academic and professional engagements reflect a commitment to bridging industry practice with scholarly inquiry, enabling students to develop both theoretical understanding and practical perspectives in fashion communication and media studies.
