Associate Professor, Design Space (MDes)
Panchkula CampusDr. Vishu Arora is Associate Professor in the Department of Design Space. She has an academic experience of 22 years in the domains of textiles and sustainability. At present she is holding the additional responsibility of Unit Incharge-Research in the Research and IPR Unit at Head Office-NIFT. She is also nominated as the coordinator & principal investigator of GEF-UNIDO-MoT project aimed at eliminating hazardous chemicals in the India's textile and fashion chain.
In the past she held the positions of Campus Coordinator and Unit Incharge-Project at NIFT Gandhinagar. Being the founder faculty of NIFT Panchkula in 2019, along with other duties of establishing a new campus, she held the responsibility of the first Campus Academic Coordinator. Her key areas of research interest are cultural and craft studies, circular design, systems and creative thinking frameworks, sustainable fashion, trend research and forecast, aesthetics and natural dyeing. Her doctoral research culminated in several publications in reputed national and international journals and magazines, presentations at national and international conferences and book, Ashavali Brocades(2020), which documents the silk heritage in India and evolution of this handloom. She has been a member of the Textile Evaluation Committee under the Haryana Atma Nirbhar Textile Policy and also associated with various national/international institutes/organizations through various academic and research activities.
