Professor, Fashion Communication (BDes)
Dr. Martin Jeyasingh Mathews is a Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication and an enthusiastic educator committed to creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology and Fashion from Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research, Chennai, along with M.Phil. and M.C.A. degrees. He has been associated with NIFT since 2003.
His research activities focus on the integration of technology with fashion and apparel. His research interests include fashion forecasting, data mining, information technology, wearable technology, and technology-driven solutions for the apparel sector. His research papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. In February 2026, he presented “Conscious Health Wear – Rule-Based Recommendations for Elderly Wearables” at the International Conference on Design Principles and Practices at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
He is a NIFT-listed Ph.D. Supervisor and Guide and serves as a Doctoral Committee Member at NIFT and Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research. Since 2024, he has been an Editorial Board Member of the NIFT Journal of Fashion. He has served as an External Examiner for Ph.D. Viva Voce examinations at AMET University. He has also held institutional responsibilities including Chairperson, Campus Coordinator, and Unit In-charge, and has undergone international training in Graphic Design and Integrated Media Skills at SCAD University.
