Bhawna Chauhan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design Space at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula. She specializes in social design, inclusive design, user experience, and design research. She joins NIFT Panchkula in October 2021 and currently teaches interdisciplinary design practice in the postgraduate programme. She received her Master of Design from NIFT, New Delhi, and is currently pursuing a PhD at NIFT, New Delhi, focusing on inclusive adaptive clothing for youth with spinal cord injury to enhance their quality of life. Her academic and professional experience integrates design research with user-centred and socially responsive design approaches.

She presented her research on Conceptual framework of inclusive adaptive clothing at the International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI) Conference, where her work received the IFFTI Initiative Award under the Early Researcher category. She also co-authored and presented research on the potential of agentic AI in empowering traditional craft communities at the 2nd International Symposium on AI in Fashion at the London College of Fashion. She is passionate about collaborating with industry, craft communities, and academic institutions to create meaningful design solutions that improve people's lives.
