Ms. Prabha Swati is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Panchkula. She has over 13 years of experience. She joined NIFT in 2018 and is committed to fostering creativity, technical excellence, and design innovation among aspiring fashion professionals. She holds a B.Sc. in Fashion & Apparel Design and an M.Sc. in Apparel Technology & Management, in which she secured the fourth rank at the University level. She is also UGC-NET qualified. Her areas of expertise include Fabric Science, Draping, Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Indian Apparel, Value Addition, Menswear, Children’s Wear, Performance Clothing, Craft-based Product Development and 2D/3D CAD. She is currently pursuing PhD in Design from Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan with research interests centered on sustainable fashion, textile innovation, and contemporary design practices. Her academic interests focus on exploring sustainable materials, innovative apparel design, and the preservation and adaptation of traditional textile crafts in contemporary fashion. She has handled the portfolio of Centre Coordinator of Fashion Design Department from 2021 to 2025. Beyond her teaching and research responsibilities, she actively mentors students in academic projects and skill development initiatives. She is dedicated to promoting learning through craft-based projects and industry-oriented pedagogy. Her commitment to education is reflected in her efforts to bridge traditional craftsmanship with modern design practices, preparing students to meet the evolving needs of the fashion industry. Through her passion for teaching, she continues to inspire future fashion professionals while contributing to the advancement of fashion education.
