Assistant Professor,Fashion Communication (BDes)
Dr. Marisha Narula is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Panchkula. She specializes in visual communication, user experience (UX) design, typography, branding, advertising, and communication design. She integrates design thinking, user-centred methodologies, and emerging technologies into teaching and research. She received her PhD in Design, a Master's in Design (Visual Design) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Applied Art) from Government College of Art, Chandigarh, Panjab University, where she graduated as a Gold Medalist. She also qualified for the UGC-NET and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
Her research interests include inclusive and accessible design, visual communication, typography, user experience design, branding, sustainability, indigenous knowledge systems, and artificial intelligence in design education. She has presented and published research at leading national and international conferences, including ICoRD at IIT Hyderabad, IDEAS at IIT Roorkee, and IFFTI (London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London), ICDHS14 at IIT Delhi. Her research explores human-centred design, healthcare service design, inclusive fashion, digital innovation, and the application of traditional visual systems in contemporary design.
Beyond teaching and research, she mentors students through interdisciplinary projects and promotes socially responsible, culturally grounded, and inclusive design practices.
