Kumaraguru Kasinathan is an Assistant Professor of Textile Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai, where he teaches, mentors students, coordinates academic activities, and contributes to curriculum development. His expertise spans textile design, digital textile printing, colour management, jacquard design, weaving, surface design, and sustainable textile development. He brings extensive experience across textile education, design practice, industry collaboration, and academic engagement.

His current research focuses on colour consistency in digital textile printing, examining file parameters, substrate characteristics, printing conditions, and integrated colour management systems. His doctoral research investigates the influence of file format, colour mode, paper GSM, print passes, and process parameters on colour reproduction. He explores digital technologies, CAD applications, material innovation, sustainable textile practices, and responsible design. He actively engages in academic and professional collaborations with international institutions, including the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, and Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK. He has previously served at NIFT Kannur and Pearl Academy, Chennai, and completed postgraduate studies in Higher Education from NTU, UK and Apparel Design and Technology from Anna University, Chennai.

Kumaraguru is actively involved in student mentoring, curriculum development, craft research, outreach programmes, workshops, exhibitions, and industry interactions. His professional interests include Indian textiles and crafts, contemporary textile design, digital technologies, sustainable materials, and interdisciplinary approaches that connect education, craft, technology, and industry.
