Ms. Saradwati Datta is an Assistant Professor in Textile Design and specializes in Design Process and Print Studies. She teaches Under Graduate Courses. She joined NIFT Chennai in 2019. She previously served as Head of Design for major Indian Export Houses in Home Furnishing section for 8 years. She received her Masters of Design (M.Des) from NID, Ahmedabad; Bachelors of Design (B.Des) from NIFT Chennai in Textile Design competency; and Senior Diploma in Fine Arts specializing in Painting from Anusheelanee, Kolkata. She has experiences of working from grassroot level in textile industry and crafts sector for two decades. She has 7 years of teaching experience as of date and has been handling Basic to Advance Design skills in Print, Surface and Weaving, Crafts Studies, Illustration and Graphics, Portfolio Building subjects. Her core area of interest is painting, creative journaling, illustration, crochet, up cycling unconventional materials into textile art. She has been in Academic and Administrative roles serving as SDAC and in Club Activities.
