Dr. Pintu Pandit is the Campus Coordinator (Textile Design) and Assistant Professor at the NIFT, Patna. He is a textile academician and researcher with over 12 years of experience in textile processing, sustainable materials, natural dyes, functional textiles, and green chemistry. Over the years, he has held key academic and administrative positions, including Regional Industry Coordinator (RIC), Unit In-Charge (Projects), and Link CC - TD, contributing significantly to academic administration, industry collaboration, and project implementation. He holds a Ph.D. Tech. and M.Tech. in Fibres & Textile Processing Technology from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. His teaching and academic interests include fibres to fabric, textile processing, weaving, sustainability, and circular fashion, with a strong focus on innovation in textile education and design.

Dr. Pandit's research focuses on sustainable textiles, natural colourants, functional finishes, smart textiles, electrically conductive materials, Plasma and green processing technologies. Recognised among the World's Top 2% Scientists (2025) by Stanford University and Elsevier, he has published more than 66 peer-reviewed research papers, 122 international book chapters, and eight internationally edited books with Elsevier, Wiley, and The Textile Institute. He has presented his research at prestigious international forums, including the Global Textile Congress, Bangkok (2015) and the 20th International Conference on Design Principles & Practices, Rome, Italy (2026). His publications have received significant scholarly citations, demonstrating the impact of his research in sustainable and functional textiles.

An award-winning researcher, Dr. Pandit has received the National Young Talent Search Award (2018), IEI Young Engineers Award (2019–2020), Young Educator & Scholars Award (2020–2021), and First Prize in the National PPE Innovation Competition for COVID-19 (2020). He has successfully led major industry–academia projects, mentored undergraduate design students, delivered expert lectures for NIFT–UNEP, MSME, DD Bihar, and conducted national workshops on sustainable textiles and natural dyes. He is a member of the ACS, SDC, TINFS and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Textile Association. His research and outreach activities continue to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, sustainable innovation, and industry engagement in textile and fashion education.
