Assistant Professor, Fashion Technology (BFTech)
Patna CampusAbhilasha Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Technology at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Patna. Her areas of expertise include apparel manufacturing, additive manufacturing, apparel product development, apparel merchandising, fashion supply chain management, pattern making, garment construction, fabric science, and Industry 4.0 applications in fashion. She received her Bachelor of Fashion Technology from NIFT Gandhinagar and Master of Fashion Technology from NIFT Delhi and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at NIFT Delhi. Before joining academia, she worked in the apparel industry for over five years. At NIFT Patna, she has also served as Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC), Cultural Club Advisor, and Hostel Warden, contributing to academic administration and student development.
Her research focuses on additive manufacturing for apparel applications, particularly the design and development of 3D-printed functional components for sewing machinery. She has published research papers in international journals and conference proceedings and holds multiple patents, including a granted Indian patent for a sewing machine presser foot. Her research interests include digital manufacturing, engineering design, apparel production systems, and the application of emerging technologies to improve manufacturing processes in the apparel industry.
She teaches undergraduate courses in Fashion Technology and mentors student projects and academic activities. She is interested in experiential learning, industry–academia collaboration, and integrating emerging technologies into fashion education through practical, application-oriented teaching. Beyond academics, she actively contributes to institutional initiatives and student engagement through academic, cultural, and administrative responsibilities.
