Dr. K. Arul is an Associate Professor in the Department of Knitwear Design and serves as the Link-Campus Academic Coordinator at NIFT, Chennai. He specializes in Fashion Illustration, Design Process, Stylized Illustration, Virtual Prototyping & Product Design and Fashion Portfolio Development. He joined NIFT in 2005 and has over 20 years of academic experience. He also served as the Centre Coordinator for the Knitwear Design Department for six years. Before joining NIFT, he worked as a Design Lead in the Tirupur export garment sector, developing knitwear collections for international brands, including Levi's, JCPenney, Diesel, and other global retailers.

His research focuses on Fashion Education, Programme Assessment, Virtual Design & Product Development. He has presented papers at International Forums, including the ASEE Annual Conference and has published research articles in Scopus-indexed journals. His work emphasizes quality enhancement in fashion education and the integration of digital technologies into design and learning. Dr. K. Arul's professional interests include digital design, AI application in fashion design, curriculum development, and academic quality assurance. He actively mentors students in design development and portfolio creation. His personal interests include writing poem and mixed media art, reflecting his passion for creativity and visual expression.
