Hailing from the popular hill-station of Darjeeling, Tshering Dolkar is an alumna of Accessory design department, NIFT, Delhi. Her industry experience includes working with leading design studios and export houses, with client designs showcased at Lakme Fashion Week and exhibitions in Singapore, Dubai and Uzbekistan. IN 2002 she joined the NIFT academic fraternity as an Assistant Professor in the Fashion & Lifestyle Accessory department. She currently serves as the Campus Academic Co-ordinator at the Shillong centre.
Specialising in craft research, trend study and design research, she has successfully coordinated craft documentation and product development initiatives across the North Eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura and Sikkim. Her work specialises in interpreting regional heritage into contemporary home decor, fashion accessories, and jewellery, with a focus on sustainable, indigenous materials such as wood, bamboo and traditional handloom textiles.
Beyond academia, Tshering is passionate about history and uses her travels as an essential tool for cultural and historical observation. These journeys inspire her creative pursuits of collecting images and creating memories through collage making.
As an academician, she believes that the greatest challenge—and necessity—is the commitment to continuous relearning.
