Dr. Lisa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Design, NIFT Shillong and currently serves as Campus Coordinator. She began her career at Delhi University before joining NIFT in 2021. At NIFT, she teaches Value Addition, Costume Studies, Fabric Fundamentals, Sustainable Fashion, etc. In 2024, she completed a two week training program on Sustainable Fashion and Textiles at STF, Zurich, which broadened her international exposure and enriched her academic practice.
She earned her PhD from the University of Delhi, supported by JRF. Her research focused on documenting the traditional costumes and textiles of Lusei and Lai tribes of Mizoram, establishing a strong foundation in textile and costume studies. Her current project extends this work to the documentation of textiles of Naga tribes from Manipur and Nagaland. She has supervised Master’s dissertations on sustainable fashion to textile and costume documentation, and has presented at national and international conferences, with publications in several journals.
In 2022, she served as trainer for India’s candidate in embroidery category at the 10th International Abilympics in France, mentoring at an international level. Her passion for craft sustains her ongoing collaborations with artisans from Northeast India, ensuring meaningful engagement with traditional practices and their contemporary relevance.
