Ms. Rimi Das is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Shillong. An alumna of NIFT New Delhi 1999 batch, she joined NIFT Shillong in 2012 and has since been actively involved in teaching undergraduate courses in fashion design, with a focus on design processes, product development, and sustainable design practices. Her academic interests include traditional and contemporary textile design, craft studies, sustainability, and zero-waste pattern-making. She has held several academic and administrative positions, serving as the Campus Academic Coordinator (2018–2021), Centre Coordinator (2021–2024), and is currently the Joint Director of NIFT Shillong. Ms. Das is pursuing her Ph.D. at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. Her research focuses on craft sustainability through the upcycling of traditional craft products using zero-waste pattern-making and draping techniques, aiming to preserve indigenous crafts through innovative and sustainable design interventions. She has contributed to prestigious Head Office initiatives, including the **India Size** project and the **Repository of Textile Crafts** project, as Campus Project Coordinator. She has also published research on the sustainability of Northeast Indian crafts and apparel. Through her teaching, research, and leadership, Ms. Das continues to promote sustainable design education, craft innovation, and the integration of traditional knowledge with contemporary fashion practices.
